Other Local Radio Clubs
The Western North Carolina area is rich in many ways. Our neighbor, Transylvania County, is known as the land of the waterfalls. There are many golf courses over in Transylvania County along US Highway 64, west of Brevard. Transylvania County Amateur Radio Club (TCARC) is a very friendly club and hails from Brevard, NC. They meet once a month in Brevard.
Western Carolina Amateur Radio Society, or, WestCARS as it is called, is an amateur radio club in our northern neighboring county, Buncombe. They meet monthly in Asheville, NC, at Asheville-Buncombe Technical College on the first Thursday of every month at 7:30 pm, and are very active in radio. WCARS holds a hamfest every year at the Haywood County Fairgrounds near Waynesville, NC. Like many of the clubs here in the WNC region, they have some talented individuals in education, technical expertise and fellowship!
